INDIAN ROCKETRY = DREAM OF TIPU SULTAN :: Wings of Fire Book by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

when I was going through the  book found an amazing para by Missile man of India .Thought of sharing with you all an amazing historic event.

1.  the development of Indian rockets in the 20th century can be seen as a revival of the 18th century dream of TIPU SULTAN .

2. when TIPU SULTAN was killed , the British captured more than 700 rockets and subsystems of 900 rockets in the BATTLE OF TURUKHANAHALLY in 1799.

3. his army had 27 brigades called KUSHOONS , each brigade has a company of rocket men called JOURKS

4. these rockets had been taken to England  and were subjected by British to what we call REVERSE ENGINEERING today.

5. that time there were of course no GATT , IPR ACT OR PATENT REGIME .

6.with the death of tipu , Indian rocketry also met its demise at least for 150 years.
